Mood disorders Not Otherwise Specified (MD-NOS) is any mood disorder that has no criteria for mood disorders that are well known. In DSM-IV mood disorders Not Otherwise Specified (MD-NOS) is called the diagnostic code (296.90) for a mood disorder that damages but does not match any official diagnosis is determined.


These categories are designed to broaden the recognition of mood disorder diagnoses, to describe mood disorder symptoms more specifically than in the past, and to facilitate the differential diagnosis of mood disorders.
