Advantage of depression

When the problem comes, we often experience feelings of stress and depression. This condition is normal. People with depressive disorders will try to get out of a bad mood disorders. According to Paul Andrews, PhD, an evolutionary biologist from Virginia Commonwealth University, depression is not a mental health disorder. Rather it is a natural sign, someone had to do repairs yourself and heal the wounded hearts immediately.

He reveals that the real problem is: people who are depressed only think of the problem they are facing deeply. This situation makes it difficult to concentrate in thinking of something else.

"Studies have found that the sadness is really forcing you to do analytical reasoning. That kind of thinking-intensive, which allows you to solve complex the problem. Thus, the parts that are smaller will be easier to handled and can be look for a way out," Thompson said.

Because we are social creatures, according to Thompson, we need to interact with others. This usually makes it a little time or energy for this kind of sustained concentration that requires analytical reasoning. Depression, make us withdraw from others, and solitude can give more time to think without interruption.

In research, the study of the process of reflection during depression, which is usually regarded as an unhealthy habit, it is useful in several respects. This process helps one to analyze deeply the problems they are experiencing. However, if symptoms develop into severe depression and worse, then people with depression will need help to treatment of depression intensively and comprehensive, both with medication which is supported by psychotherapy or with other therapies.
